I’ll explain where I’ve been in a bit. Right now it’s time to live blog a piece of pure Americana: The Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy telethon. Gather your children. people, who knows how long Jerry is going to be able to do this.
When I was a kid, this marked the official end of summer for us. You were going to school the week the telethon came on. It was a mark of the changing of the seasons. I think it made me a sucker for variety shows. Seriously folks, where else can you see Paul Anka cover Van Halen’s Jump, Bob Zany, a concert violinist and at least two animal acts. You should feel guilty for not having to pay for this level of awesome. Lessen you guilt by making a donation today!
Jerry Lewis has just finished a puppet act with Ron Lucas the puppet guy. I guess this is some new development in ventriloquist technology where they pull some guy out of the auidience and give him a big fake mouth. Then the ventriloquist does his act with the fake mouth moving.

Tony Orlando and David Cassidy up next!
I went to make some brats; hope I didn’t miss Tony Orlando. That’s too horrid to contemplate. Was Howard Stern playing guitar on the David Cassidy number?
The CEO of Harley Davidson is on. Apparently, they run a summer camp for kids with Muscular Dystrophy. They just gavce a second check for $800,00
Ed McMahon started talking about Safeway, and it looks like the Real Player feed has broken. Someone fix this! I guess I’m missing Tony Orlando for sure now!
It just hit me: we must be in the local affiliate segment, so the mda site is showing nothing. I just need to wait till 11. There better be a trained monkey act sometime tonight.
