Bloggers Save a Life.

Filed under: General, Blog Reviews, News — Der Tommissar @

Hat tip to bizblogger for pointing this out.

Thanks to the efforts of members and lurkers on Free Republic and their friends with pro-life email lists around the country, a baby’s life was saved last August.

I was in Beirut 20 years ago. You should’ve been here then. It was beautiful! Beirut had casinos, dances, parties, concerts. It was the Las Vegas of the Middle East.

Lebanese government resigns in the face of massive demonstrations.

Geeze. I wonder what made all those Lebanese folks decide they could stage massive demonstrations in the face of a brutal Syrian occupation force? I mean, what could be happening over in the Middle East that would give them the courage to stand up for freedom and liberty?

Rebecca over at Doxology has graciously deigned to interview me. I’m flattered. Apparently, this is part of one of those “tag” games that’s floating around, so I have to offer to interview the first five people that leave a comment asking to be interviewed on this post.

There was this one movie

Filed under: General, I Laughed, Political — Der Tommissar @

Originally posted on The Wide Awakes:

The kids wanted to watch a movie the other night; after much haggling we all settled on “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang“. Now while watching it, something strange happened.

Now, I’m a big movie buff. Much like Lieutenant Kinderman in “The Exorcist” I like to talk film, discuss it; but I’m really stumped on something. That hardly ever happens, film wise, so I hope I can call on all of your collective knowledge to help me through this. My problem is this: I think I’ve seen a whole third of the movie somewhere else, and I can’t remember where. Was it borrowed from some other film, or did some other film copy “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”?

The Huge Announcement

Filed under: General — Der Tommissar @

As promised, here is the announcement:

My local newspaper (The Santa Fe New Mexican) has picked up
my RSS feed. It is now listed here. I’ve been listed as an “Affiliated Site”; the only other such site to share this designation is Steve Terrell’s Blog. Steve has been convering state politics for the New Mexican for many years, so that’s pretty strong; I’m getting to hang in some elite NM company. Maybe we can have beers together or something.

Of course, they’ve set up the feed to point to the old site, but that is something that will be fixed in the near future.

The site is free, but requires registration.

The publisher for the web site is Michael Odza,
(modza@sfnewmexican.com) If I could trouble you to write Mr. Odza and thank him for his commitment to ideological diversity, that would be tremendous. Also, if anyone has the weird idea of actually getting the RSS feed to the site, please use their link.

This is just one more tiny example of how we, as bloggers, are becoming more accepted and relied upon as a valid source of news and commentary. If you feel inclined, I would be very grateful if you could mention this on your own blogs.

The Holy Father is back in the hospital, and apparently required a tracheotomy. From what I’m seeing, it looks as if John Paul II will not be with us much longer. I’d personally be surprised it he makes it past five months. Let’s all take a moment to remember him in our prayers.

Hunter S. Thompson…is dead

Filed under: General, News, Leftists — Der Tommissar @

Wow. Hunter Thompson committed suicide. I never saw that coming. After all, he was always such a well-balanced guy. Totally shocked here.

May God have mercy on his soul.

Bloody Sunday

Filed under: General, Political, Irish, Catholic, History — Der Tommissar @

For all those people who know me out there you may be wondering about something.

How on earth does January 30th pass, and The Donegal Express not go off about “Bloody Sunday”?

Welcome To The New Home

Filed under: General, Blog Reviews — Der Tommissar @

Cool, I get to feel like Mr. Rourke. “Welcome to The Donegal Express”

This entirely new layout and design has been graciously provided by Priss from Priss’ House of Crap. All of the excellent artwork and design has been done by Priss. All the parts where you go, “What the hell was she thinking when she did this?” are the parts I insisted be changed to my tastes.

Just so you know. And also, if you don’t at least /think/ of talking to Priss before getting your site redone, you’re just not smart. Priss was able to make my brain stop hurting as I tried to describe what I wanted the new site to be.

I know my last post promised a super special announcement, but it has been postponed for one day. This is totally due to things outside my control. Until then, enjoy.

Ok,

I’m posting something very quickly, because I’m tired from all the moving.

Please stay tuned to this station for a very big announcement. I promise you, it’s huge.
